Privacy policy

This notice explains what personal information Let's Get Custom collects when you use letsgetcustom.co.za, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It is written to meet the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). The responsible party is Let's Get Custom, Shop 12, Montana Value Center, Tibouchina Street, Montana, Pretoria, 0182.

Your photos are processed on your device

When you upload a photo, the face is found and cut out in your own browser, on your phone or computer. The original photo never leaves your device. Only the cut-out face, and the sock design built from it, is sent to us, and only when you add the design to your cart, save it to your account, or place an order.

What we collect

• Your design: the cut-out faces or logo you upload, the design you build, any names or text you add, and the print file we produce from them.
• Order details: your name, email address, phone number and delivery address.
• Account details (if you create one): your email address, and the designs and orders linked to it. We do not store passwords; you sign in with a link we email you.
• Payment: we do not see or store your card details. Payment is handled by PayFast, who tell us only whether an order was paid and their payment reference.
• Technical data: the usual server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) kept briefly for security and to fix faults. We do not run advertising trackers.

Why we collect it

• To make the socks you ordered and deliver them to you.
• To email you an order confirmation, a shipping notice with tracking, and replies to your questions.
• To let you sign in and return to saved designs, if you choose to create an account.
• To keep the store secure and to meet our tax and record-keeping obligations.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing unless you have asked us to.

Who we share it with

Only the services needed to run the store, each of which receives only what it needs:

• PayFast (payment): your name, email and the order amount.
• Bob Go and the courier (delivery): your name, phone number and delivery address.
• Resend (email delivery): your email address and the content of order emails.
• Vercel and Neon (hosting and database): store the site's data, including your designs and order details.
• Our print team sees your design and delivery details in order to make and pack your order.

Some of these providers store data outside South Africa. Where they do, they are bound by contracts and safeguards that meet POPIA's requirements for cross-border transfers.

How long we keep it

• Photos and print files: deleted 30 days after your order is shipped. We keep the design settings (layout, colours, text) so a reprint is possible if something goes wrong, but the faces themselves are removed.
• Saved designs in your account: kept until you delete them or close the account.
• Order records (name, address, what was ordered, amount paid): kept for five years, as tax law requires.

Photos of other people

By uploading a photo you confirm that you took it or have permission from the person in it to use it on a printed product. Please do not upload photos of people who have not agreed, and do not upload photos of children other than your own or those you are responsible for. If someone believes their likeness is being used without consent, they can write to us at tom@letsgetcustom.co.za and we will remove it.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

• ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
• ask us to correct or delete it;
• object to processing, where we rely on our legitimate interests;
• complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) if you are not satisfied with our response.

Write to tom@letsgetcustom.co.za. We answer within 30 days. Deleting an order's personal details before the five-year record period ends is not possible, but photos and designs can be removed at any time on request.

Cookies

We use only cookies the site needs to work: one to keep you signed in, one for the cart, and one for staff access to the order system. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

Changes

If this notice changes materially we will update the date at the top and, for changes that affect how your data is used, email account holders.
